Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodology is today quite commonly used by all design disciplines in a construction project. This is why it is becoming a prerequisite in today’s projects to be able to deliver electrical drawings also as a 3D model. BIM is preferred because modelling and coordinating all disciplines in 3D can prevent many costly surprises in the construction phase.

3D design enables seamless sharing of the project model between the project parties and makes coordination of the electrical systems with the other building services installations much more accurate and efficient. Modelling electrical systems in 3D enables more accurate and realistic design than drawing in 2D. You can verify in advance whether a specific product is suitable for the planned installation, both from the perspective of geometrical space requirements and from the technical, operational perspective.  The 3D model also provides you with an excellent basis for presentations to clients and other stakeholders.

  1. Easier coordination of electrical systems with other disciplines
Automated clash detection makes it possible to detect clashes with other building services installations during design and make the necessary adjustments to the design right away. Contractors can rely on the project model on the construction site, saving time and avoiding costly surprises
  2. 3D and BIM go hand in hand
Designing the project in 3D is the first step to beginning to reap the benefits of BIM methodology.
  3. Design with real products
Designing in 3D enables you to reap the benefits from designing with MagiCAD’s 3D BIM objects of MEP products which have been modelled with accurate dimensions and technical data. MagiCloud offers the world’s largest database of data-rich, manufacturer-verified BIM objects for MEP design, containing over 1,000,000 real MEP products.
  4. Design in 2D and 3D modes simultaneously
The possibility to design and view drawings in synchronised 2D and 3D views at the same time makes design more accurate and flexible
  5. Accurate bills of materials and cable lengths
Perform quantity calculations and produce bills of materials in real time on all electrical installations in the project, on the entire building, each floor or individual rooms separately.
